Malindo Air & Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA) To Collaborate On Training Opportunities

Updated: Jul 20, 2022

JOHOR BAHARU, 30 SEP 2021 – Malindo Air and Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA) have signed a memorandum of agreement to collaborate on activities of mutual benefit which include producing future-ready pilots and engineers, programme and curriculum development; technical training; student and work placements; R&D and also innovation projects.

“Malindo Air is excited about our collaboration with AATA,” said the CEO of Malindo Air, Capt. Mushafiz Bin Mustafa Bakri. “We look forward to working with AATA. We are reviewing programming and graduate needs for Malindo Air to build their talent pipeline.

We want to help AATA become a recognised leader in aviation training, and enjoy some of the highest reviews among the regional aviation academies with innovative flight training curriculum.”

Capt. Mushafiz added, “Aviation industry has been brought to a cruel halt for much of 2020 due to the pandemic crisis. However, we have seen border restrictions being lifted and travel looks to be booming again. But soon airlines will face a shortage of pilots, limiting their ability to meet demand because, during the pandemic, airlines shrunk their operations as demand plummeted.

To slash operating costs when revenue was very low, many airlines incentivised their pilots to retire early so that airlines could stay afloat. Soon when travel demand soars again, airlines will need more pilots. We believe, now is a good time to look at becoming an airline pilot as a career opportunity.”

AATA Executive Director, Ts Dr Mohammad Fahmi Abdul Ghafir said “As the demand for pilots takes off, people will start wondering how to become an airline pilot. AATA will be the best place for you. You can learn to fly an airplane right here at the AATA.

We innovate our training programme so that you will be able to acquire 40-hour of working experience before you start your licence training. At the end of the licence training, we will enrol you in our unique Airline Preparation Programme.

Using our newly purchased Boeing 737 simulator, we will train you to fly like an airline pilot. We are the only academy in Malaysia that offers such a programme. You will benefit from it.”

AATA has been accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) as an Approved Flight Training organisation. Among the training and courses that AATA is offering include obtaining Private Pilot Licence (PPL) for Aeroplane, Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) for Aeroplane, Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Theoretical Knowledge, Instrument Rating for Aeroplane and Flight Instructor Course for Aeroplane.
