AATA + UTHM Collaboration

Through an MoA signed in June 2023, AATA is the official aviation training partner for UTHM’s Professional Piloting degree programme. As part of the curriculum, students will undergo CPL/IR (ATPL Frozen) training at AATA’s CAAM-approved flight training facilities.

The Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering Technology (Professional Piloting) with Honours is a 4-year degree offered by UTHM in collaboration with AATA

This programme blends academic excellence in aeronautical engineering with hands-on commercial pilot training (CPL/IR). Graduates gain both technical expertise and flight qualifications, preparing them for versatile roles in the aviation industry.

The programme is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Programme Objectives

Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering Technology (Professional Piloting) with Honors programme aims to produce technologist/pilots who:

  1. Excel in various engineering practices in aerospace/aviation industries or work as professional pilot.
  2. Hold management or decision-making position.
  3. Capable to lead business and technopreneurs activities in accordance with national needs and demands.
  4. Have a strong commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

Requirements to Join

To enrol in this programme, applicants must meet the following academic and medical criteria set by UTHM and aviation authorities.

General Requirements

• SPM with a grade C in Bahasa Melayu and English AND

• Matriculation / STPM / Diploma with minimum CPA of 2.80

• Required subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or related Engineering fields

Special Requirements

• Minimum BMI: 25

• MUET: Minimum Band 3 < br>
• Pass an interview, aptitude test & medical exam

• No visual or speech disorders

• Minimum height:
158 cm (female), 163 cm (male)

Academic Qualifications

• At least 3 Principal Passes in GCE A-Levels, OR
• International Baccalaureate (IB) with 6 subjects, OR
• Diploma or equivalent recognized by Malaysian government

• Required subjects :
Minimum Grade C in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry

English Proficiency

• TOEFL: 500 (PBT) / 65 (iBT)

• IELTS: Minimum Band 5

• MUET: Band 2 or higher

Special Requirements

• Letter of Approval from CAAM to pursue CPL/IR training in Malaysia
• Must be 18 years or older
• Pass interview and medical exam
• Minimum height: 155 cm
• No color blindness or speech/physical impairments

Access the CAAM e-Licensing Portal

To begin your journey toward becoming a licensed pilot in Malaysia, you’ll need to register and apply through the CAAM e-Licensing Portal.

This official platform, managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), is where students submit key applications such as the CAAM Approval Letter — a requirement before starting flight training.

  • Apply for your student pilot license

  • Track application status and approvals

  • Manage future license renewals
